Kim's super suit's regeneration is a reference to several things, first of all, the Centorion project regenerated, the second reference could be from 'X-men: Evolution' in which Spike's X-men suit regenerates so he can use his spike-based powers without trashing every X-men suit he wears.
The sheild bubble is a reference to the Droidekea or 'Destroyer Droid' sheild from Star Wars.
